  • Am I My Brother's Keeper?

    Am I My Brother's Keeper?
In Genesis 4, Cain asked God, "Am I my brother's keeper?" Cain had murdered his bother Abel and God had asked him where his brother was.  Now the reason Cain asked God the question was not that he didn't know the answer to where his brother was.  The reason he questioned God was because he knew that he was responsible for his brother's death.  Cain questioned God because he was trying to separate himself from not only his brother's life, but also his brother's death.  Cain was Abel's keeper and he had failed to keep his bother.  He failed to love, to guard and to protect his bother.  God asks us today, "Are you and I our brother's keeper?

  • Fall Upon the Stone and Be Broken Rather the Stone Fall Upon You and Be Crushed

Fall Upon the Stone and Be Broken Rather the Stone Fall Upon You and Be Crushed
In Luke 16, Jesus tells the story of the rich man and Lazarus.  There was a rich man who lived in luxury every day, while at his gate a beggar laid daily wishing he could just eat the leftovers from the rich man's table.  The time came when they both died.  The poor man's soul was carried by the angels to Abraham's boson or paradise and the rich man's soul was taken to hell or hades.  Luke 16:19-31. The rich man wasn't taken to hell because he was rich but because he didn't follow the commandments to love his neighbor as himself.  He didn't change his old ways of thinking and seek God and His righteousness.  He didn't obey the Scriptures.  He didn't fall upon the Stone and be broken of his pride and his selfishness.  Instead, the Stone fell upon him, and he was crushed.  He found himself in hell separated from God.

  • The People Living in Darkness Have Seen a Great Light

The People Living in Darkness Have Seen a Great Light
The apostle Paul's Damacus experience was a powerful conversion.  The Apostle Paul hated the Christians.  He was at Stephen's stoning, and he was on his way to Damascus to arrest and imprison even more Christians.  The apostle Paul was spiritually blind.  He was walking and living in darkness.  Jesus physically blinded him to show him that he was walking in spiritual darkness, and He was the Light whom Isaiah prophesied about.  Jesus wanted to show him that He was the Messiah who had come into the world to deliver both Jews and Gentiles from the power of satan and his kingdom and to translate them into His kingdom.  Acts 9:1-19

  • Deliverance is the Children's Bread - God Promises to Deliver Us

Deliverance is the Children's Bread - God Promises to Deliver Us
In Matthew 15, a Canaanite woman approached Jesus and his disciples and cried out to Jesus to deliver her demon possessed daughter who was suffering terribly.  However, at first Jesus did not answer her.  The story is found in Matthew 15:21-28.  Jesus refused to help her at first and replied that He was sent to the lost sheep of Israel, and it was not right or fair to take the children's bread and throw it to the little dogs or Gentiles.  Jesus was making the point that the gospel was to be given first to the Jews. The woman understood what Jesus implied and was willing to settle for crumbs.  She wouldn't take no for an answer, and because of her great faith, Jesus answered her request.  He listened to her cry and delivered and healed her daughter.
