The LORD is my shepherd conveys confidence and trust in the Lord, our God.   A shepherd is a person who herds, tends and guard his sheep.  We are the sheep of God's pasture and He leads and guides us under His watchful eye.  In John 10:11, Jesus introduces himself to us as the "Good Shepherd".

We have entered into the Advent Season.  It's the time of year when we celebrate Jesus coming into the earth as a baby and we look forward to His return to earth as the Coming King.  Matthew 1:23 says, "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him "Emmanuel" which means, "God with us," (NIV).  God is still with us in these unprecedented times.  He promises to never leave nor forsake us.

Proverbs 1:7 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline,” (NIV).  To fear God is to recognize Him as the Creator, who is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent.”  It is to acknowledge that we are the creation while He is the Creator of the universe, including all human beings.
