God is the God of the Recovery
Recovery means to return to a normal state of health, mind or strength. It also means the action or process of regaining possession or control of something stolen or lost. In our walk with God, we go through seasons of exertion, spiritual battles, health battles, financial and relational losses. But God also has seasons of recovery and restoration for His people. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “To everything there is a season, and a time for every matter or purpose under heaven,” (AMPC).
In Judges 15, Samson’s father in law gave away his wife to another. This made him so angry that he went to war with the Philistines. The Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon him and he defeated them. He was very thirsty after this great battle, so he cried out to God for help. God opened a rock basin, and water gushed out for Samson to drink. His spirit was revived-he was alive again. Samson recovered from the great battle. God is the God of the Recovery.
In 1 Samuel 30, David and his men returned to Ziklag to find the village raided, torn to pieces and burned down. The Amalekites had destroyed the village and captured their families-all the women, young and old, and their children. David strengthened himself in the Lord and sought God for direction. God told him to go and rescue all their families. 1 Samuel 30:18-20 says, “David recovered everything the Amalekites had taken, including his two wives. Nothing was missing: young or old, boy or girl, plunder or anything else they had taken. David brought everything back. He took all the flocks and herds, ...” (NIV).
In Job 42:10-17, God restored Job’s fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before. Job was comforted and consoled over all the trouble he had gone through. The Lord blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the former part. God restored Job’s health, finances and his children. God is the God of the Recovery.
Sometimes God’s people make foolish mistakes and come out from His umbrella of protection and become prodigals like the Prodigal son. But thank God that He helps us to come to our senses to repent and return to Him. God is the God of the Recovery.
Jesus has ransomed us from the law of sin and death. We are now under the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus. Recovery and restoration are a part of the blessing and salvation package that have been bestowed upon us. Everything stolen, lost or invested shall be recovered in Jesus’ name. God is faithful. Pray for recovery and restoration in this new season. God is the God of the Recovery. Be a voice for the gospel. Wear Scriptures!
